Bee-ing a Better Me
Sometimes, right in the middle of a conversation about absolutely everything (but really nothing at all) lol, Michelle (my older sister) will drop me a gem that I have to take in a really work at applying it to my life.
As I rambled about getting my life together (a thing I do often), she dropped this jewel in my lap...
The original quote by motivational speaker Les Brown says, "Used to bees don't make no honey." But when Michelle said it to me, swapping out the word no - for the word new struck a huge cord with me!
I can look around my life and see proof of the honey I've made in the past. I can also show you all the honey I'm "working on". But I'm not consistently producing new honey, and that's a huge problem.
I'm a talker (for those that didn't know), and that fact is both one of my greatest strengths and hardest struggles. Sometimes I expend more energy talking about the new thing I wanna do, then I put into making that new idea a reality. The planning process is great, but is a waste if I'm not taking the necessary energy and making new honey.
There's another popular quote that's says "Old to me, new to you." Never thought much of it, but as it applies to the quote above, I've gotta stop giving out my old honey and calling it new. This slight of hand lets me spend long periods of time not being productive, which only hinders my long term goals.
It's important that my words ALIGN with my actions, not precede them. This doesn't mean that I don't work ahead, it means that I don't stop working. I should always be in production mode unless I'm in vacation mode!
It's spring, so here's to make new honey all year!
